The Ibrox club switched to Umbro branding under a sub-licensing agreement that allowed Castore to manufacture and distribute Umbro-branded kits for a select group of professional clubs. The move proved popular with many supporters, with several of the retro-inspired designs receiving a positive response.
But the arrangement was only ever intended to be temporary with the Castore branding set to return for the final three years of the club's current kit deal.
Club officials recently told supporters at a fan event that the long-term agreement with Castore remains in place until 2030 and will run its course as originally planned. That means Rangers shirts bearing the Castore logo will be back from the 2027-28 campaign onwards.
The development comes after Rangers chairman Paraag Marathe admitted at the club's shareholders' meeting in August that the current regime would not have agreed to the retail contract had they been in charge when it was signed.
Marathe said: "We would not have done that deal a year ago but the club came with that agreement in place and we're trying to work within it."
His comments highlighted some of the concerns surrounding the commercial arrangement inherited by the new leadership team. However, with the deal legally binding until 2030, Rangers are set to stick with Castore as their kit partner despite the brief return of the famous Umbro branding that many fans had welcomed.
