The Tangerines were booed off by supporters after suffering a 4-1 home defeat to Mansfield Town and Evatt believes the club have to improve their mentality.
He said: “I’m angry as well as frustrated, because I care about this football club. We’ve accepted mediocrity for too long now.
“We throw in the towel as soon as things go against us, and that’s not acceptable. It’s not what this club stands for, and we’re not reaching our expectations.
“I absolutely think I’m the right man for the job. I’ve got loads of confidence in my ability, but we’ve got to resolve it.”
Dion Charles equalised on the stroke of half-time for the hosts after Bailey Peacock-Farrell kept out Michael Smith’s penalty, before Mansfield netted three goals after the break to condemn Blackpool to another home defeat.
And Evatt questioned his players’ character after such a poor second-half display.
“As good as the first half was, the second was equally as bad,” he added.
“It was two completely different halves of football. We were completely dominant to begin with. We looked dangerous, we looked confident.
“And then second half, they went more aggressive. We make a mistake for their second goal, and then the fragile side of us came back out. It was so disappointing and we have to do better.”
Rhys Oates put The Stags back in front after capitalising on Jordan Williams’ mistake, and Mansfield boss Nigel Clough was delighted for the substitute whilst admitting he was underwhelmed by his team’s first-half display.
He said: “The first 20 minutes was the poorest we’ve been all season. They were very good and we were pleased to get in at 1-1.
“But we were outstanding second half. We created chances galore, and as always, the subs were as important as the starting eleven.
Everyone’s delighted that Rhys got his goal too, because he’s deserved it and it’s a great finish with his left foot.”
The result sees the visitors extend their unbeaten run to six games in League One, and Clough believes his team’s performance after the restart showed they are a match for anyone in the division.
“If we keep playing like we did second half, we’ll be OK. But we’ve really got to concentrate on that and make sure we’re on it from the start because teams struggle to cope with us at times.
“We know what we’re capable of. We’ve scored seven goals in a week away from home at two very tough places, so the lads have got to start believing.”
