Maxx Crosby’s future with the Las Vegas Raiders is an open question again, with the November 10 trade deadline closing in.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero posted on Saturday that Crosby “wants to be a Raider, he has no desire to leave, and he is definitely not forcing his way out. But GM John Spytek is sure to get calls over the next 10 days, leaving open the possibility of another blockbuster.”

The post came two days after the Chicago Bears pried defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons away from the Tennessee Titans. Analysts and fans were quick to weigh in on what comes next for Crosby, and fans were just as quick to name possible buyers.

Why the Jeffery Simmons Trade Matters in Las Vegas

The Bears, then 5-2, shipped a 2027 fourth-rounder and their 2027 and 2028 first-round selections to the 1-6 Titans on Thursday. The Titans returned a 2028 fifth-round pick plus Simmons, a first-team All-Pro last season. Simmons became the first player at defensive tackle to be dealt for more than one first-round pick since the common draft era began in 1967.

The Raiders have already been down this road with Crosby once. A March trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell apart after the Ravens backed away over the medical report on his surgically repaired knee. Crosby has not been on the injury report this season.

In his newsletter, Pelissero laid out the comparison plainly: “If a 29-year-old Jeffery Simmons can get traded for two first-round picks and more, why can’t a 29-year-old Maxx Crosby? And if the Raiders were willing to trade him for that package in March, why wouldn’t they do it again now if the value is there to accelerate their rebuild?”

John Frascella, an NFL analyst, responded to Pelissero’s post: “The door is now open to ANOTHER potential Maxx Crosby trade out of Vegas… spicy…”

Fellow NFL analyst Ryan Paganetti offered a view from the film room, along with a forecast: “Tape shows Os heavily gameplanning every week to slow Maxx down. A loss by the Raiders this weekend and I’d expect more calls.”

Crosby has two sacks this season, along with 16 quarterback hits. He ranks 26th on PFN’s EDGE Impact Metric with a grade of 79.6.

The Raiders opened 3-0 but have lost four straight, falling to 3-4 and third in the AFC West. Their next chance to end the slide comes Sunday at the New York Jets.

Fans Start Pitching Landing Spots for Maxx Crosby

One fan saw “a 1000% chance the Bengals will/ should be in on this.” The Cincinnati Bengals are 4-2 and third in the AFC North.

Another fan suggested the New York Giants: “Could the Giants make a call after trying to make a move for Jeffery Simmons? Brian Burns is out for the year, and questions remain for the future of their DE position.”

A different pitch came from another fan: “I’m telling you, watch the Vikings.”

Two more fans lobbied for the San Francisco 49ers. One of them answered Pelissero’s post with a simple “Do it” while sharing a GIF of general manager John Lynch.

The other spoke to Crosby directly: “Come get one (Super Bowl) in February, Maxx, we got you.” The Raiders play the 49ers on Nov. 8, two days before the deadline.

Pelissero also pointed to a hurdle on the Raiders’ end: “That doesn’t mean Crosby would accept a trade to just any team, and his close relationship with owner Mark Davis could help him scuttle any deal.”

Any team that lands Crosby would also take on his contract, in addition to whatever picks it sends to Las Vegas. He is owed about $18.333 million over the rest of this season, and the $29 million he is due in 2027 is fully guaranteed.
