One day after being waived from the active roster, Jaden Crumedy is back with the Houston Texans.
According to the team's transaction list, the Texans have signed the defensive tackle, along with former training camp wide receiver Daniel Sobkowicz to the practice squad ahead of Week 9's matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
In a corresponding move, the Texans have second-year defensive tackle Kyonte Hamilton and third-year tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden from the practice squad. Crumedy was replaced on the active roster by Naquan Jones, a standout defensive tackle who found a role for Houston's trenches ahead of the postseason last December.
Crumedy wasn't an elite player by any means while rotating in on the defensive line, but he averaged roughly 18 snaps per contest. In his six games with Houston, he recorded six tackles and a half sack.
It wouldn't be surprising to see Crumedy be activated as a practice upgrade for Sunday's matchup at SoFi Stadium. The NFL allows teams to elevate a player three times from the practice squad before they're forced to add them to the active roster. Given that Crumedy was already on the active roster, he would stll have his practice squad elevation status in check.
The Texans kick off at 3:30 p.m. locally on CBS. Houston enters Sunday's matchup as a touchdown favorite over the winless Bolts.
