The future of live league coverage is up for grabs after the SPFL launched the tender process for its next TV deal, with broadcasters now considering whether to make their move.
It comes against the backdrop of major change at the BBC, with the dedicated BBC Scotland channel set to close in spring 2027 as part of a restructuring programme.
The broadcaster earned praise for bringing the Scotland national team away from the rival networks during a time when a place at the World Cup was secured.
While the corporation already shows live Championship matches, Premiership highlights and extensive radio coverage, Valentine stopped short of confirming whether it would bid for live top-flight games.
Speaking on Scotcast with Martin Geissler, she said: "I'm always interested in programmes I know that the audience wants.
"I mean, it's not just football; we do lots of other sport too. But I know how popular the sport is with audiences in Scotland, and we pride ourselves on being the home of Scottish football."
However, Valentine admitted financial pressures and uncertainty surrounding the BBC's future funding model complicate any major spending decisions.
She said: "We do live in very difficult financial times at the moment and, you know, we're at a crucial point in the Charter renewal. Until we know what that sustainable future looks like for the BBC, that makes things difficult."
When pressed on whether a bid would be submitted, Valentine offered no guarantees.
She said: "I've only known about it about the same length of time as you have. So come back to me."
