Ipswich Town U21s 5 v 0 Birmingham City - Premier League 2 report

John McGreal's side went into this game off the back of their 1-0 defeat to Anderlecht in their opening Premier League International Cup match at Portman Road on Tuesday, with first-teamers Cedric Kipre and Marcelino Nunez featuring in that clash.

The young Blues had a quick turnaround and didn't include any senior players in this clash, as they put in a dominant display in wet conditions at the training ground.

They opened the scoring via an own goal in the 12th minute, before Pitts doubled Town's lead on 28.

Former Chelsea youngster Frankie Runham made it 3-0 five minutes before half-time.

Seven minutes after the break Pitts bagged himself a brace, before Jamie Mauge made it 5-0, two minutes later for the final goal of the game.

The young Blues had a trialist feature in the game, with 19-year-old winger Laolu Omobolaji, who was released by Leicester City at the end of last season, coming on as a sub on the hour mark.

They return to action again in the Premier League International Cup next Tuesday lunchtime when they host Dutch giants PSV at Portman Road (12 noon ko).

Town U21s: Barrett, Elliott, Mthunzi, Shabazz-Edwards, Lewis, Doherty, Compton (Boakye-King 77'), Mauge, Runham (Omobolaji 60'), Mauge, Pitts, Fletcher (Eze 60')
