Pakistan pace bowler Haris Rauf has been handed an official reprimand and a 20 per cent match fee fine after being found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ODI tri-series fixture against England in Lahore on Sunday, October 27 2026.

The ICC confirmed in a media release dated October 28 2026 that Rauf had breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, a provision that relates to displaying conduct contrary to the spirit of the game. One demerit point was added to his disciplinary record as a consequence. Crucially, this represented his third offence within 24 months, pushing his cumulative demerit point tally to five.

The incident occurred at the end of the 46th over of Pakistan's innings. Positioned at the non-striker's end, Rauf appealed for a wide and subsequently became involved in a heated argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks. Rauf raised his bat and persisted with the exchange even after on-field umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid intervened with a warning.

He then brushed past the umpire and continued walking in the direction of Jacks, which formed the basis of the formal charge. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Sharfuddoula, third umpire Wayne Knights and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain. Rauf accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, and as a result no formal hearing was required.

What did England's over-rate offence involve?

Meanwhile, England also faced disciplinary consequences arising from the same match. The tourists were docked 15 per cent of their match fee after being found three overs short of the required target once all permitted time allowances were taken into account. Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which covers minimum over-rate offences, every side that fails to bowl its full allocation within the allotted time is liable to a five per cent fine per over short.

England captain Harry Brook admitted the offence on behalf of his side and accepted the penalty proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, meaning no formal hearing was necessary. As with Rauf's case, the matter was resolved without the need for a disciplinary tribunal.

What was the match result and what comes next for Pakistan?

The disciplinary proceedings followed a gripping ODI that Pakistan won by one wicket. Shadab Khan struck an unbeaten century and shared an unbroken 89-run partnership with Rauf for the 10th wicket, guiding Pakistan to their target with 17 balls remaining. England's bowlers were unable to separate the pair as the hosts completed a remarkable chase that had appeared beyond them for much of the closing stages.

Following that victory, Pakistan sealed their place in the ODI tri-series final, where they are scheduled to face Sri Lanka on October 31, 2026.
