Brighton fans rage at tiny away allocation as impressive European victory played in front of empty stands

BRIGHTON fans were left fuming after being given a tiny allocation for their trip to Getafe where they won 1-0.

The Seagulls jetted out to Madrid for their Conference League away day this week as they continue their bid to reach the knockouts.

Brighton fans were left seething over their tiny allocation for their trip to Getafe on Thursday

Brighton supporters turned out in the droves to inspire their team in the Spanish capital.

But after selling out their allocation, they were stunned to find out they had only been allowed 562 tickets.

A shocking image circulating on social media shows the Brighton supporters boxed into a very small stand behind the goal.

Getafe’s Estadio Coliseum has a capacity of 16,500 and swathes of empty seats were seen dotted around the ground.

And some fans were fuming after seeing an entire section above the away end had been left completely unfilled.

A number of them couldn’t hide their frustrations after the eye-catching picture came to light.

The allocation of just 562 fans ended up enjoying themselves after Malick Yalcouye’s winner

One said: “Give that allocation to us we all win – Getafe get the money we get the seats, diabolical.”

Another claimed: “Hundreds of us stuck in bars in Madrid as Getafe refused to sell more tickets.”

A third added: “Loads of us sat watching thinking how didn’t we get more tickets!!!”

And a fourth backed up the claims from the Brighton supporters as he said: “Wouldn’t sell us anymore despite there being tons available.”

One football fan wrote: “Absolutely ridiculous, at least give them the upper tier as well.”

According to Uefa rules, clubs only have to give an away team five per cent of their stadium capacity.

And with Getafe’s capacity currently reduced to 11,000 amid renovations, the LaLiga side were entitled to provide the allocation that they did.

The Brighton fans that were in attendance ended up having a top evening as Fabian Hurzeler‘s men triumphed 1-0.

Malick Yalcouye netted a superb header mid-way through the second half and that was enough for all three points.

The Seagulls are now fifth in the Conference League standings after two wins, one draw and zero losses.
