One of Luis Enrique’s biggest challenges as manager of PSG is keeping his players engaged and playing at full effort despite the reality that they can cruise to easy wins in so many games, simply relying on the crazy talent in their squad.

Midfielder Joao Neves this week revealed that the coach had set him individual targets to help motivate him to keep hitting new levels, rather than allowing him to take it easy and just use his quality to run games with ease.

Neves reveals goals set by Luis Enrique

“Luis Enrique wants me to score 10 goals and provide 10 assists,” Neves explained in quotes picked up by RMC Sport.

“That’s a goal. His style of play allows the midfielders to score goals. We don’t play with a true number 9. He helps me a lot to stay calm and at the same time motivates me to do more. He’s never satisfied with us; he always wants more.”

Last season Never ended up with 7 goals and 5 assists in all competitions. So far this season he has no goals and one assist. He had better step things up if he wants to get close to those targets.
