Novak Djokovic is, for some, the greatest tennis player of all time. No player has won more singles Grand Slam titles, with the Serb still fighting strongly as he approaches his 40th birthday.

But despite conquering the world of tennis during his imperious career, there are a handful of opponents Djokovic has never beaten in a competitive match.

As the 2026 tennis season begins to wind down, here at Express Sport, we've taken a look at the players who remain undefeated against one of sport's very best of all time.

Kicking things off with one of the new kids on the block. Joao Fonseca was drawn against Novak Djokovic in the third round of the French Open this year and got the better of him in emphatic fashion. Fonseca came from two sets down to defeat the tennis legend.  (Image: Getty)
Meanwhile, in the final Grand Slam of the year, Djokovic tasted defeat against another first-time opponent. Mariano Navone stunned Djokovic in the first round of the 2026 US Open.  (Image: Getty)
Djokovic's struggles in recent years have meant more and more first-time opponents are getting the better of him. That was a similar case for Thiago Agustin Tirante at the  Cincinnati Open earlier this year. Having lost the opener, the Argentine rallied and won back-to-back sets 6-4.  (Image: Getty)
