The Reds lost 1-0 against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Friday and have now suffered three defeats in their last four Championship games, dropping to 18th in the table.
Cleworth, the last of 10 players still at The Racecourse who helped secure a record-breaking three successive promotions, is used to winning games but he says the response must start on the training ground before carrying over into matches, with the players needing to match opponents physically before their quality can shine through.
"We've been so used to winning over so many years that it's hitting everyone hard at the minute, it's really frustrating to be losing games more than we'd like," he said.
"It's a tough league but we know we can turn it round.
"We did it last year. We showed long spells of being really positive and put good winning runs together.
"It's down to us to do that as a team collectively and with that togetherness and the fans backing us, we can definitely turn things around.
"It starts with us on the training pitch and then taking that on to the pitch on a weekday, Saturday or whatever day it is.
"First and foremost, you've got to match the other team's fight and for many years, we've done that and last year in particular we did that.
"So it starts with that and then hopefully we can build from there."
The challenge facing Wrexham does not get any easier with leaders Middlesbrough next up at The Racecourse tomorrow night, but Cleworth is backing his team-mates to rise to the occasion.
"Obviously every game's tough and there's probably no tougher at the minute," he said.
"Middlesbrough are absolutely flying, they're a great team and we'll have to show them a lot of respect but on top of that, we'll have to get in their faces and try and upset them.
"They're at the top of the table for a reason, but we've got to match their energy and hopefully we can get three points."
Cleworth made his comeback against the Blades when he was introduced as a substitute for the second half.
The 24-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in the 1-1 home draw with Burnley on September 8 and he was delighted to be back in action after being sidelined for almost two months.
"It's been a frustrating seven-and-a-half weeks," he added.
"I've not experienced being on the sidelines for that sort of length of time before.
"I felt like I was getting a bit of rhythm. I'd had two good games and then one of those freaking incidents early in the game against Burnley so on a personal level, it was good to be back out there
"I feel good but I'm just disappointed with how the return's gone.
"Obviously results are not quite going the way we want at the minute and it is down to us to get together as a team and start putting them right."
