Anthony Gordon ditched his plans to conduct a recent pre-match press conference in Spanish after getting too nervous.
The Barcelona star joined the club from Newcastle this past summer in a £69million transfer and has taken to life in Spain like a duck to water. Gordon, 25, has scored three goals and contributed five assists in 14 games across all competitions this season.
He's started 10 games this season under Hansi Flick, including the last three matches in the Champions League. He played 90 minutes in their 3-0 win over Aston Villa earlier this week and had drawn up a plan to showcase his Spanish skills at a press conference before the game.
According to Sport, the England star had prepared potential answers with Barca's media team and his Spanish tutor the night before. However, when facing a room of 100 journalists, Gordon's nervousness got the better of him and he spoke in English instead.
While shying away from demonstrating his bilingual ability, Gordon did answer questions in Spanish when being presented as a Barcelona player for the first time. His learning of the language was helped by his daily discussions with a Spanish physiotherapist during his time at Newcastle United.
Gordon had spent his entire football career in England before his move to Catalonia and said his first few months in Spain finally led to people from his country respecting "the quality and IQ that I play with".

He clarified his comments when speaking to ESPN, as he said: "I didn't mean people were judging me wrong or had a negative perspective of me. I meant they had never seen me in a system that highlights these qualities.
"People hadn't seen me in this kind of system before, which I think is helping them appreciate me more." Gordon was once again called up by Thomas Tuchel on Friday for England's Nations League clashes against Croatia and world champions Spain.
He opened up about his joy playing under the German, admitting: "He's been massive in my development. Your international career isn't long, so I'm grateful every time I play for England, it's almost sacred and I'm very proud to have him as my coach."
