England bounced back from consecutive defeats to Canada with an impressive display against the United States to end the WXV Global Series on a high.

The Red Roses ran in nine tries during a 55-12 victory with Claudia Moloney-MacDonald the star as she crossed the line on four occasions as England dominated proceedings in New Jersey.

The defeats to Canada were the team’s first consecutive losses for the in a decade and head coach John Mitchell freshened up the side making six changes and left Ellie Kildunne on the bench until the 61st minute.

Moloney-MacDonald led from the front and scored the opening try in the fifth minute before captain Meg Jones finished off a swift move to extend the lead and show why the world champions had previously accummulated a 41-Test unbeaten run.

Props Mackenzie Carson and Maud Muir peppered the USA defence with aggressive runs and sweeping long passes created space for Moloney-MacDonald to run in three more tries.

Mo Hunt made a blindside dart before the ball was threaded right where wing Mia Venner strolled over before Bryony Field completed a maul try.

Maddie Feaunati charged through a gap created by the power of the Red Roses’ maul and the pack also had the final say when Sadia Kabeya muscled over.

“We wanted to impose ourselves on the USA,” England captain Jones said. “They came off the back of some good wins, so we knew they had momentum. We had to stop that and that’s what we did.

“When we got into it we started keeping the ball, being patient and had good control. Everyone was a threat to the line. We became unstoppable and I think that’s where the tries came from.

“Off the back of two losses, we just wanted to learn and we’ll continue to learn. We’ve got so much feedback from this tour. We’re going to review it like we always do, reflect, and see where we can keep growing because I know there’s so much growth in this team.

“We’re hungry to be better and to perform better. We’re just unbreakable at this point, but we need to keep pushing and growing.”
