San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has already cemented his place in the history books as one of the greatest tight ends ever. On Sunday, he can add to an already illustrious career. Brock Bowers, on the other hand, is still young and has plenty of time to pad his stats, but he can also add to the NFL record books on Sunday in a matchup with Kittle and the 49ers in a game to watch for the most underrated position in football.
As it stands, George Kittle ranks second amongst tight ends this season with 5 touchdown receptions and third with 425 receiving yards. Since entering the NFL in 2017, Kittle ranks second in receiving yards with 8,433. With 75 receiving yards on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, Kittle would join Rob Gronkowski as the only tight ends in NFL history with at least 500 receiving yards in a player's first 10 seasons.
Raiders tight end Brock Bowers ranks second among tight ends with 217 receptions and 2,421 receiving yards, and is tied for third with 17 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2024.
With 5 receptions against the 49ers on Sunday, Bowers would surpass Trey McBride for the most receptions for a tight end in their first three seasons.
If you're a tight end fan, this is the game to watch. Over the years, the position has evolved from a security blanket and last read for QBs to a role where tight ends can run like wide receivers and are heavily relied on in the passing and running game.
