The Bruno Fernandes-Michael Carrick saga has taken another turn with David de Gea choosing a side, sparking a reaction from the club captain.
What began as a criticism by Bruno Fernandes of Michael Carrick’s approach against Como snowballed into a full-blown saga against Bournemouth.
Messi and Ronaldo RUINED the Ballon d'Or
Fernandes was dropped from the starting XI, he sulked and made his annoyance clear, and then Carrick went a step further by not letting him come off the bench either.
As Carrick faces the sack, David de Gea has chosen a side in this saga and Fernandes has reacted.
At the start of the season, if Man Utd fans were asked who they thought Carrick would fall out with first in the squad, Fernandes would have been the last name on the list.
He was in the form of his life last season, and was the biggest beneficiary of the mid-season change by breaking the PL assist record.
Both say NO to Eddie Howe and YES to Roy Keane
Surely not Keane? What experience does he have to be successful at Old Trafford? I don’t think they can keep bringing in ex players, it isn’t exactly working so far
Kieran McKenna over Cesc Fabregas 😳
Keane would last around 10 minutes in that board room!

However, things have gone completely off the rails this season, and once Fernandes fell out, it was always going to be just a matter of time before Carrick goes.
Having said that, the Old Trafford faithful were clear that they back Carrick as a person despite this run, and pointed the blame squarely at the players and the board.
Count De Gea as among the fans who think the same, as the Spaniard posted a picture of himself with Carrick from his playing days, without a caption, to show his support for the Man Utd manager.
Fernandes didn’t say anything, but he left a like on De Gea’s post, and in today’s social media age, he knew what he was doing.
Recently, Fernandes liked a reel which said that loyal people shouldn’t be pushed so much that they stop caring, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what the meaning behind that was.
Similarly, Fernandes is sending mixed messages here, insinuating that even he respects Carrick’s playing career and it’s not personal, he just doesn’t think he’s suitable for this job.
This will inevitably end with Carrick’s sacking, but it increasingly feels like Fernandes’ days at the club are numbered as well this time.
