Celtic Announce AGM Date With Major Rule Changes Proposed

Celtic have confirmed that their Annual General Meeting will take place at Celtic Park on Tuesday, December 1, 2026, at 12 noon.

This year’s AGM will be held in person, with Celtic manager Martin O’Neill and the club’s directors expected to attend.

However, a separate General Meeting has also been scheduled for 9:30am on the same day, when shareholders will vote on proposed changes to Celtic plc’s Articles of Association.

The proposals include allowing future general meetings to take place online or through a hybrid format.

Celtic interim chairman Brian Wilson has insisted that shareholders will have the opportunity to challenge the board and demand answers.

Speaking in an interview published by the club, Wilson said:

“I think that the shareholders have every right to be heard, to challenge, to question, and to be given information and explanations.”

He added:

“So that is the point of an AGM. And it’s one of the reasons why I just hope that this time the AGM will run its full course, that people will ask their questions, make their points, expect answers, and that there will be no disruptions and there will be no attempts to alter the course of that meeting.”

The previous AGM was disrupted, and Wilson hopes December’s gathering will allow shareholders to raise their concerns without proceedings being cut short.

One of the most significant proposals would allow future shareholder meetings to be conducted electronically or through a combination of in-person and online participation.

It would also permit an adjourned physical meeting to resume remotely at a later date.

When asked whether the board wanted future AGMs to be held online or in a hybrid format, Wilson responded:

“No, absolutely not.”

He continued:

“One of these allows meetings to be held, general meetings to be held online or in a hybrid form. But as far as the AGM is concerned, the absolute wish and intention of myself and of the board is that it will be held fully in-person, live, with maximum participation of shareholders.”

Wilson also offered shareholders a further assurance about the format of future meetings.

“Absolutely, there’s no other intention.”

The chairman stressed that the board wants December’s AGM to proceed without disruption, with questions asked and answered.

“My full expectation is that the meeting will run for its full two hours and that every minute of that time will be used on productive purposes.”

Shareholders will be able to vote in advance on the proposed amendments, meaning they are not required to attend the earlier 9:30am General Meeting in person.

The amendments remain subject to shareholder approval, while Wilson’s assurances reflect the current board’s intentions rather than a restriction on how future meetings could legally be conducted.
