Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca would’ve been forgiven for believing Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol would form an impenetrable left side of his back line against most sides, and that a Saturday in November at Nottingham Forest wasn’t too big of an ask for the duo.
Yet mistakes and slow play from both led to Maresca removing both at halftime of a 3-1 loss at the City Ground, as City lost its third-straight Premier League game while extending its wait for a clean to sheet to eight games.
Things looked great on the field when City responded to major off-field drama with a 3-0 defeat of Liverpool at Anfield on October 11, but the side has gone on to allow 4, 3, 1, 2, 2, 1, 2, and 3 goals over the past 27 days.
So how did Maresca see Saturday’s loss, as ex-City prospect Liam Delap delivered two goals in the West Bridgford rain?
We’ll share all of Maresca’s initial thoughts here as soon as he speaks from the City Ground.
