It’s been a positive week for Joel Mvuka, who has revitalised his career back at Bodo/Glimt.

The winger became the latest in a long line of players to return to the Norwegian side following a big-money exit earlier this year, at the end of his unsuccessful loan spell in Glasgow.

A medical issue caused Celtic to renegotiate what had initially been a £3 million permanent deal for Mvuka into a loan, but after just two appearances totalling less than 90 minutes, there was no chance of the move becoming permanent.

Since returning to Norway, he has slowly been reintegrated into first-team football. After opening his account with a fine finish at the weekend, he made his Champions League debut on Tuesday.

Night one of week 3 of the UCL did not disappoint 🔥 Which game did you watch and which result stands out to you the most?

Napoli 4-3 Bodo/Glimt: Joel Mvuka makes Champions League debut

In an absolute goal-fest in Naples, Bodo came from behind twice to level the score at 2-2 on 62 minutes, before two goals put Napoli 4-2 ahead.

Mvuka was introduced as a substitute with five minutes to go, attempting one unsuccessful dribble before Sondre Fet’s late consolation ensured a 4-3 scoreline.

Previously at the weekend, Mvuka had scored his first league goal since December 2024 with an outside-of-the-foot finish in a 2-0 away win over Hamarkameratene.

Reflecting on a difficult spell of his career after completing his return to Bodo, Mvuka said: “I haven’t played very much, but I feel like I have gained good experience even though I didn’t get to play many games.

“I can take that experience with me. I have also become older and more experienced and I have returned as a better player. It’s great to be back. I’m doing well and have improved since I was last here.

“I had a pretty good time in Glimt. I made a lot of friends, had a good time both on and off the field. That’s something I took into account when coming back. I’ve been following Bodo/Glimt since I left and I’ve seen that they’ve become a much better team.

“It would have been cool to get into the league phase of the Champions League two years in a row. It’s a good match between me and the club.”
