Flyers Game 16: Lines, Notes, & How to Watch vs. Mammoth
Flyers Game 16: Lines, Notes, & How to Watch vs. Mammoth

The Philadelphia Flyers (3-8-4) will look to bounce back from their embarrassing Wednesday loss on Sunday when they host the Utah Mammoth (9-5-0) at Xfinity Mobile Arena at 4:00 PM ET.

Wednesday’s game seemed to break the Flyers, with a telling postgame from leadership and coaching. It was their third straight loss following their 3-game winning streak, which came after their 9-game losing streak to start the season.

The Mammoth are cruising to start the season, but have certainly cooled off a bit after their surge to start the year. Utah comes to Philly following an overtime win against the Penguins, which was its 3rd straight game giving up a point to the other side.

Puck drop is at 4:00 PM ET at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Here is everything you need to know before the game.

Notes

After Saturday’s roster moves, Sunday sure seems like it will be Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett’s return to the lineup. Both players were full participants in practice, in top-6 line rushes, and were a part of power play practice. All signs indicate two much-needed reinforcements.

Tippett will bring speed and physicality to a lineup that has been lacking both, especially with the forwards. Konecny will bring a fire and leadership that has certainly been missed, especially over the latest stretch.

Speaking of that stretch, Sunday’s game provides a chance to answer the call of the captain, who said they were “soft at times” during the first 15 games. “Soft” is one of the worst things you can call a hockey player. It should bother them. Now, it’s the Flyers’ time to show that it did and do something about it.

Joseph Woll got the start in DC, so it should be Vladar’s net. He has been incredible for the Flyers as of late. They’re going to need that against one of the better teams in the league.

The Mammoth are deep, too. They have 4 players with 10+ points, compared to the Flyers’ 2. Utah also has 3 players with 5+ goals, compared to the Flyers’ 1. The Mammoth have one of the best offenses in the league, but average goaltending. Philly is going to have to score, and a lot, for a chance to win this one.
