After five seasons with four different teams to begin his NBA career, the Charlotte Hornets brought in Harvard alum and former undrafted free agent signing Jeremy Lin. At the time, Lin was coming off his first and only season with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he averaged 11.2 points, 4.6 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals. Prior to that, Lin spent time with the Golden State Warriors, the Houston Rockets and, of course, his "Linsanity" run with the New York Knicks.
In his lone season with the Hornets, Lin thrived as a sixth man, averaging 11.7 points. 3.2 rebounds, three assists, 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks. As a result, Lin finished seventh in Sixth Man of the Year voting, the only year of his career in which he received votes. Although Lin and the Hornets made the playoffs that season, they fell to the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the first round.
After his time in Charlotte, Lin suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in the first game of his second season with the Brooklyn Nets, which altered his NBA career. That said, Lin earned an NBA championship in 2019 as a reserve with the Toronto Raptors. In 480 games during his nine-year career, Lin averaged 11.6 points, 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks. He now works with ESPN as an NBA analyst and commentator.
