‘Mark Andrews Should Retire,’ ‘Worst Starting TE’ — NFL Analysts, Fans Take Aim at Ravens’ Pro Bowler’s Performance vs. Bills

Jason La Canfora did not want to wait until the offseason to discuss Mark Andrews’ future; he did not even want to wait until the game ended.

The veteran NFL reporter called for Andrews to retire during Baltimore’s 36–10 loss to Buffalo on Sunday. Other viewers questioned the tight end’s effort and job security as the Ravens struggled to support a rookie quarterback pressed into emergency duty.

Jason La Canfora Calls for Mark Andrews To Retire

Andrews, who ranks 31st on PFN’s TE Impact Metric with a 69.6 grade, finished with three catches for 14 yards on four targets. His longest reception gained eight yards, offering little relief for an offense that lost Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley before halftime.

La Canfora’s assessment left no room for interpretation.

“Mark Andrews should retire. Now. Midgame,”La Canfora wrote.

Fantasy football analyst Ryan McDowell focused on what he considered insufficient help for undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, who entered after Baltimore’s first two quarterbacks were injured.

“Mark Andrews (is) showing minimal effort for his rookie QB,”McDowell wrote.

The criticism spread beyond the afternoon’s receiving totals. One fan reached nearly two decades into Baltimore’s tight end history to describe his disappointment.

“2026 Mark Andrews is the worst starting TE the Baltimore Ravens have fielded since Quinn Sypniewski in 2007,”the fan wrote.

That comparison was the supporter’s assessment of Andrews, whose performance had become a target during another difficult afternoon for Baltimore. The loss dropped the Ravens to 4–4 after they had started 4–1.

Another reaction was equally unforgiving.

“Mark Andrews has become a disgrace to NFL players,”one viewer wrote.

The responses reflected mounting frustration with a familiar player being asked to help an offense through an unfamiliar situation. Baltimore’s quarterbacks combined for only 91 gross passing yards, but finished with 68 net passing yards after sacks.

A productive afternoon from Andrews would have been particularly valuable under those circumstances. Three short receptions did little to quiet viewers already questioning what he was providing.

Ravens’ Quarterback Injuries Leave Offense Searching for Help

Jackson’sreturn ended abruptly when he injured his right thumb on Baltimore’s first offensive snap. Huntley subsequently suffered a toe injury, leaving Fagnano to make his NFL debut.

Fagnano completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with an interception and a lost fumble. Baltimore’s quarterbacks faced frequent pressure, with Buffalo recording four sacks and 12 quarterback hits.

Fans still expected more assistance from Andrews.

“Mark Andrews is not real, bro💀,”one fan wrote while sharing a video of a drop.

Another supporter suggested an abrupt end to the road trip for the veteran tight end.

“We should leave Mark Andrews in Buffalo,”the fan wrote.

The anger also reached Baltimore’s broader approach to established players.

“The fact that the Ravens have built a culture where herbs like Marlon Humphrey and Mark Andrews have ironclad job security despite being two of the worst players in the league at their positions is truly shameful,”one fan wrote.

Another questioned the front office while criticizing Andrews and kicker Tyler Loop.

“Mark Andrews still can’t catch, yet he still starts. Tyler Loop STILL can’t kick. What does this Ravens GM even do?”the supporter wrote.

Baltimore’s problems extended well beyond one tight end. The Ravens managed 144 total yards, while Buffalo piled up 426. Zay Flowers finished without a reception, and Rashod Bateman’s 22-yard catch was enough to make him the team’s receiving-yardage leader.

Andrews’ three receptions were second on the team behind Justice Hill’s four. That offered little consolation on an afternoon when Baltimore needed someone to turn a short completion into a meaningful gain.

The Ravens host Jacksonville on Thursday. Their next quarterback will need considerably more help.
