Bedale beat Thornaby Nash 7-0 to move fourth in league

On a lovely autumn day with the sun keeping spectators warm, Nash kicked off and were immediately met with resistance from Bedale’s Reece Allison who seemed to win every loose ball and tackle to dominate the midfield along with new young debutant Issac Tate.

Carl Handley steered in a free kick which came off the crossbar to get the goalscoring started on 28 minutes, this was quickly followed by a penalty from Matthew Tew after Taf Nicholas was fouled in the penalty area.

Allison’s combative play then earned him a booking from referee Marc Hodge.

Half time came with Bedale in front at 2-0 and Manager Dave Proud continued his rotational policy, introducing substitutes in order to keep the tempo high.

Tew got on the scoresheet again when he finished off a really good move with a precision strike in the 58th minute.

Goalkeeper Dylan Bradford claimed an assist from a long pass to Nicholas who ran half the length of the field to finish smartly past the helpless Nash keeper.

On 74 minutes centre back Handley claimed his second of the game with a bullet header from a cross by Callum Fletcher; and then Charlie Chandler bagged a brace with two typical striker finishes to round things off for Bedale.

Manager Proud paid tribute to the Bedale defensive performance saying: “its great that we scored seven goals , but defensively we were sound today with Luke Lishman in great form at right back, and this together with the introduction of another talented young player in Issac Tate , bodes well for the future for Bedale”

The win elevates Bedale to 4th in the table and keeps them in contention for a promotion position.

Carl Handley won the man of the match award and Bedale’s next home game is against Unicorn FC from Richmond in the Lou Moore Cup next Saturday.
