Bidding to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur take on Crystal Palace in an exciting London derby at home on Saturday evening.
After wins over Coventry City and Chelsea, Spurs have moved up the Premier League table and could move into the top half of the table with victory over Crystal Palace. Whispers around the head coach’s future at White Hart Lane have faded following recent results, with Spurs having picked up nine points from a possible nine after September’s international break.
Tottenham head into the London derby against Crystal Palace at home as big favourites, as Roberto De Zerbi aims to keep the winning momentum going.
Tim Sherwood has predicted his former club Spurs to emerge victorious against the Eagles on Saturday. Now, Chris Sutton has dropped his prediction for the game. The ex-Celtic star is backing Roberto De Zerbi’s side to overcome their London counterparts, predicting a 2-0 win for the hosts.
“Tottenham are on the up at the moment though, and they performed really well in their win at Chelsea even if they did need a bit of luck along the way with Mike Penders punching their first goal into his own net,” Chris Sutton wrote in his column for BBC Sport.
“However, they managed it; the important thing for Spurs is they have found a way of getting results now, and I can see them getting another one here.
“I do worry for Sage because it seems a lot of Palace fans are uncertain about him and feel his team are too easy to get at.
“Because of that, I am going for Spurs to score a couple more goals here.”
Spurs supporters were fearing for the worst when James Maddison was forced off in the second half against Chelsea last weekend. It was thought to be a groin problem, resulting in another potential spell on the sidelines.
To everyone’s surprise, De Zerbi confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon that Maddison is available for the game against Palace. Well, that wasn’t the only injury boost the Lilywhites received ahead of the fixture. The Italian tactician also revealed that Destiny Udogie is back fit after missing the last two games with a minor knee issue.
Having Maddison and Udogie both fit and available for the visit of Palace will be a huge lift for De Zerbi and Tottenham. Maddison, especially, showed his class against Coventry and in the first half of the win over Chelsea, and the English playmaker could get minutes off the bench on Saturday. De Zerbi is unlikely to risk either of them from the outset.
