Falkirk have paid tribute to lifelong supporter Robert Govan, who died after attending Sunday’s match against Celtic.

The 62-year-old was taken to hospital by ambulance but sadly passed away a short time later.

The club said: “Falkirk Football Club is aware that a lifelong supporter tragically passed away shortly after leaving today’s game. Everyone at Falkirk FC sends their heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this most difficult time.”

Tributes have been paid following his death, with the news bringing sadness to the Falkirk community after an afternoon that had seen supporters celebrating their team’s victory.

It was the first time that Falkirk had beaten Celtic since 2007. The Bairns headed into the break 2-0 up and came out to defend their lead in the second half.

At the end of the day, all things said and done, they deserved the three points after the performance they put in. Major questions are now being asked of Martin O’Neill and his Celtic coaches, with questions surrounding whether Shaun Maloney even wants the job as assistant.
