Packers open six pack of sacks on Panthers QB Bryce Young on 'TNF'

The Green Bay Packers didn't need the return of Micah Parsons to produce the defense's first six-sack game of the 2026 season. Jonathan Gannon's defense took down Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young six times during Thursday night's 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field.

It was the team's first game with at least six sacks since Week 7 of last season, when Parsons had three sacks to lead the way in a win over the Arizona Cardinals. The Packers also became the first team to produce six sacks in a primetime game this season, per Next Gen Stats.

Six different players had a sack: edge rushers Lukas Van Ness, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Barryn Sorrell and Brenton Cox Jr., linebacker Ty'Ron Hopper and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt. Two of the sacks came on third down, resulting in punts. Wyatt's sack forced the Panthers to kick a field goal after recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff. Dennis-Sutton's sack all but ended the game on the second to last play of the fourth quarter.

Per Next Gen Stats, the Packers pressured Young on almost 50 percent of his dropbacks despite blitzing him on less than 30 percent of dropbacks. Five of the six sacks came on traditional four-man rushes.

Per Pro Football Reference, the Packers now have 53 games in team history with at least six sacks in a game. Green Bay is 52-0-1 in those games, with the lone non-victory coming in a 26-26 tie with the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. The Packers are 6-0 in the Matt LaFleur era when producing at least six sacks.
