Tiger Woods appears set to realise his design aspirations in Northern Ireland, with the 15-time major winner reportedly associated with a proposed £30million golf course along the north coast.
The development, earmarked for Bellarena near Magilligan, could represent one of the most substantial enhancements to the island of Ireland's golfing terrain in recent memory.
The Derry Journal reports that Woods and his TGR Design outfit have been selected to craft the proposed championship layout, which Galgorm Collection revealed last year.
The scheme would deliver Northern Ireland's first new links course of its calibre in 100 years, enhancing the international reputation of a coastline already celebrated for golf, reports Belfast Live.
The region already boasts world-renowned links courses including Royal Portrush, Portstewart and Royal County Down along Northern Ireland's shores, establishing it as a magnet for golf tourism globally.
Woods, who holds the record for the most major victories in the modern era (15), has cultivated an expanding reputation in golf course architecture through TGR Design. His reported participation would lend the Bellarena project a prestigious profile as development continues.
A Causeway Coast and Glens councillor informed the Derry Journal that a briefing had confirmed Woods had been secured for the scheme.
Nevertheless, Galgorm Collection has not yet publicly disclosed its chosen designer. A company representative confirmed that plans for the championship course were still being developed, with news of the design appointment set to be revealed in due course as part of the £30m project.
