Jannik Sinner and Darren Cahill will part ways at the end of this season.

Cahill, one of the most well-respected coaches in tennis history, has overseen Sinner’s rapid rise on the ATP Tour.

Under Cahill’s tutelage, Sinner has won five Grand Slam titles, 10 Masters 1000 titles and achieved the world number one ranking.

Cahill is set to be replaced by Magnus Norman, who has previously worked with Thomas Johansson, Robin Soderling and Stan Wawrinka.

Andy Roddick, the former world number one, has applauded Sinner’s decision to hire the Swedish coach.

Norman often goes under the radar when discussions around potential coaching hires arise – largely due to his reserved personality on the ATP circuit.

Nevertheless, Norman remains one of the most accomplished coaches in tennis history.

Jannik Sinner is set to hire Magnus Norman as his next coach – is this the right move? 🤔

Who would you have hired to be Sinner's next coach?

Norman has been particularly successful while working with Stan Wawrinka, guiding the Swiss legend to three Grand Slam titles, one Masters 1000 title and the world number three ranking.

Norman also achieved great things with compatriot Robin Soderling. The Swede became the first player to defeat Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros in 2009, before reaching consecutive Roland Garros finals from 2009 to 2010.

With such strong credentials, one can understand why Andy Roddick is such a big fan of the Swedish coach.

“I’m going to say this: Probably the best coach on earth, along with the Cahill’s and whoever over the last 15 years, that never gets mentioned ever – and it’s a crime – is Magnus Norman,” Roddick said on the Served Podcast.

“Taking Robin Soderling from someone who is very good, but was 20 to – if I get the numbers wrong, it’s only slightly – maybe he was [ranked] 15 to 35 for a while.

“And taking that to a guy who beats Rafa [Nadal] at Roland Garros and makes back-to-back French Open finals and is a complete pain in the a** for tennis earth for three years before kind of injuries and illness take over.

“The shift from 30 to four in the world or three in the world. That he did with Soderling.

“And then he goes and does the same thing with Wawrinka. Wawrinka was very good, but he was, you know, maybe touched 10 and then dropped to 30. Then he was 25.

“To take that and then three majors? How is this guy not first name off the list every time we talk about the best coaches on tour for the last 20 years? He should be.

“This is a no-brainer hire for Sinner. We are all idiots for not even thinking about it, like, all the time.”

When will Jannik Sinner return to competitive play?

Sinner has been forced to cut short his ATP season in order to take care of a long-term knee injury.

It seems the Italian star will not be absent from the court for too much longer, as he is set to compete in the Six Kings Slam from December 27 to 30.

The event, an exhibition held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was due to take place in October. However, due to ongoing political tensions in the Middle East, the tournament was moved.

Sinner is the defending Six Kings Slam champion. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s final, 6-2, 6-4.
