Promoters confirm date racing will return to Arlington Stadium

Promoters have confirmed when racing will return to Arlington Stadium.

Spedeworth Motorsports posted on social media to confirm that the venue in Hailsham will host its first event back on Saturday, November 14.

The ‘Back to Basics Bangers’ event will be followed by a ‘National Bangers All Granada Meeting’ on Saturday, November 28.

The future of the venue was thrown into doubt on August 6 when the owners told promoters that oval racing would be halted after 60 years due to “serious infrastructure problems”.

But on August 20, the promoters confirmed they had agreed a lease with the stadium’s owners to allow racing to return.

And Spedeworth Motorsports thanked volunteers who have helped complete refurbishment works to get the venue race ready.

A spokesperson for the promoters said: “Thanks to the monumental efforts of a small army of hugely generous people we are now once again able to say ‘let's go racing’ at the south coast venue.

“As many have seen, the efforts to bring the venue back to life with hundreds of litres of paint, countless hours and plenty of work has resulted in the stadium looking immaculate and work won't be stopping anytime soon as we look to the future.

They added: “Spedeworth Motorsports are proud to be investing in the future of oval racing once again as we remain committed to being the leading promoter of the sport and continuing the highs of the 2026 season for years to come.

“We really cannot do it without you, and we would like to thank everyone for the support on both sides of the fence!”
