Adelaide Strikers have strengthened their pace attack ahead of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2026-27 season by signing a proven Pakistan international for the entire tournament. The 32-year-old fast bowler will join a strong group of overseas recruits as the franchise looks to challenge for the title in BBL|16.
The signing marks a return to the Big Bash for the experienced campaigner, who previously played for Melbourne Stars. He will now represent the Strikers under head coach Tim Paine, adding international experience and proven wicket-taking ability to their bowling attack.
Haris Rauf has signed with Adelaide Strikers for the entire BBL|16 season. He previously represented Melbourne Stars from 2019 onwards, taking 56 wickets in 33 matches. His performances in the competition have included two selections in the official tournament team, including the most recent edition.
Rauf enjoyed an impressive BBL|15 campaign, claiming 20 wickets and sharing the Golden Arm award with Gurinder Sandhu. He also took a hat-trick on his Big Bash debut in BBL|09. The Pakistan pacer is also the second-highest wicket-taker for his country in T20 internationals, with 133 wickets.
Rauf joins England all-rounder Ben Stokes and New Zealand batter Mark Chapman as Adelaide’s three overseas recruits for BBL|16. The squad also includes some big names like Alex Carey, Matt Short, and Mackenzie Harvey. Head coach Paine described Rauf as a proven match-winner with the ability to change a game quickly. He also highlighted the fast bowler’s pace and performances in international cricket and franchise competitions.
Rauf said he was looking forward to contributing to the team and helping the Strikers reach the latter stages of the tournament. He also expressed excitement about playing alongside established names such as Stokes, Short and Chapman. The Pakistan pacer is scheduled to make his Adelaide Strikers debut against Sydney Thunder in Canberra on December 16. The BBL|07 champions will hope his experience and pace can help them mount a strong challenge for the BBL|16 title.
