Andoni Iraola could reap the benefits of an exciting duo that some Liverpool fans have compared to Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.
The Reds have enjoyed a relatively solid start to life under the Spanish head coach, who replaced Arne Slot in the summer. Having lost only twice in 14 games in all competitions, there are plenty of positives to take.
However, there are a few positions in the squad that either require major surgery or extra quality depth. Two of those are central midfield and up front. But that might not be the case for long.
Iraola showed he's more than willing to give youth a chance during his time at Bournemouth. The Spaniard has continued that trend at Anfield, handing big roles to teenagers Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni in the opening months of the season.
One man who is certainly making a case to be the next in line for significant first-team minutes is Will Wright. The 18-year-old striker joined the Reds from Salford City for an initial £200,000 in 2025, and is now showing an incredible eye for the back of the net.
On Wednesday afternoon, Wright fired in a hat-trick against Fenerbahce in the UEFA Youth League, having already notched a treble in the competition. His tally in all competitions for the youth side is seven goals and three assists in 12 appearances.
His third goal against Fenerbahce summed up the impressive Englishman, who latched onto a through ball and fired past the goalkeeper like an experienced striker. Watch it below.
Many Liverpool supporters have taken just as much interest in the player who threaded the ball through to Wright after a powerful run in midfield. Luca Eden, a 15-year-old midfielder, has already drawn comparisons to one of the club's greatest-ever players, Steven Gerrard.
Watch the clip above, some have suggested it took them back to the glory days of Gerrard and Torres, a partnership that excited fans and combined for many goals at Anfield.
Eden is already playing with players above his age group and looking comfortable, with his powerful strides and passing ability reminiscent of Gerrard.
It's extremely early days for the two youngsters, but if they progress to become the players fans expect, then Liverpool have two future stars in their ranks.
In 2026, the going rate for a top-class centre-forward is upwards of £100 million. A reliable goalscorer is worth their weight in gold, especially at the top level. Wright is showing early promise that he can become exactly that.
When Liverpool eventually look to replace Alexander Isak as the starting striker, Hugo Ekitike looks best placed to fill that void. By that time, Wright could be more than ready to play second fiddle to the Frenchman.
Eden's chances of making it on the red side of Merseyside are harder to gauge given his age. However, midfielders like Enzo Fernandez (twice), Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson have all moved for £100 million or more. Living up to Steven Gerrard's name is almost impossible, but getting anywhere near that level would save Iraola and Liverpool from splashing out on another huge transfer fee.
