It looks like the Chicago Bears will be without running back Kyle Monangai for another week.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson met with the media prior to the Bears' final practice of the week before they head to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football and provided updates on a few key offensive players, most notably on the second-year running back.
Johnson told the media that he isn't expecting Monangai to make his return to the field on Monday. "I would count him out this week," he said via Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune. Monangai has missed the last three games with a toe injury following a monster game against the New York Jets where he carried the ball 30 times for 146 yards and two rushing touchdowns in a 23-12 win.
Without Monangai, D'Andre Swift will once again see the majority of the carries while Roschon Johnson spells him as the backup. The Bears are 2-1 without Monangai, but their rushing offense isn't the same. With Monangai in the lineup, the Bears are averaging 196 yards on the ground. Without him, they're averaging 98 yards per game.
Though Monangai is not expected to play, Johnson is hopeful that tight end Colston Loveland will be good to go, according to Hammond. Loveland popped up on Friday's injury report with a neck injury, limiting him in practice. Johnson said the team is hopeful Loveland's injury is minor, but that they will need to see how he feels in practice on Saturday. Loveland is coming off his two best games of the season following the return of quarterback Caleb Williams to the lineup.
The Bears will release their final injury report on Saturday afternoon.
