Premier League: Arsenal have penalty appeal turned down and Fulham level with Newcastle

That is a very controversial VAR intervention at the Emirates.

A player who is in an offside position only becomes active when they commit an offside offence.

Kai Havertz must be "attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball" - otherwise the shirt pull by Nobel Mendy takes precednce. The foul comes before any offside offence.

Havertz did not commit an offside offence, and this should have been a spot-kick to Arsenal regardless of the offside.

We saw this a couple of seasons ago between Newcastle and Bournmouth. Fabian Schar was just offside but pulled back and he moved to run onto a free-kick delivery. A penalty was awarded after a VAR review.

It's an even game, Newcastle are going forward and coming back in numbers.

Oscar Bobb is playing well down the side for them, he's getting to the byline a lot.

Alex Iwobi, Antonee Robinson and Shea Charles on the left too and Newcastle are finding them hard to deal with.

Noah Okafor is so quick, he's just come onto the pitch.

It's onto his right foot and once he's in the penalty area he's got far too much room.

The pace and accuracy from him, he took his chance and he and Leeds certainly needed that.

Alvaro Arbeloa names an unchanged Fulham side from their draw at Aston Villa last weekend.

There will be plenty of eyes on Josh King in his first appearance since earning a call-up to the England squad.

Fulham XI: Leno; Castagne, Affengruber, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Charles; Bobb, King, Iwobi; Garcia.

Subs: Lecomte, Tete, Andersen, Palacios, Muniz, Kevin, Larsson, Angel, Sessegnon.

Yoane Wissa comes into the Newcastle line-up as Matthias Jaissle makes four changes from the XI that began Monday's home defeat by Everton.

Malick Thiaw, Jacob Murphy and Sean Steur also start, Joelinton is out injured while Fabian Schar, Joe Willock and Anthony Elanga drop to the bench.

Newcastle XI: Hornicek, Dedic, Thiaw, Burn, Hall, Steur, Gonzalez, Murphy, Barnes, Wissa, Osula.

Subs: Pope, Livramento, Botman, Schar, Toure, Elanga, Fernandez-Pardo, Willock, Miley.

They've said no red card. This will create debate.

The stud goes into the back of his Achilles, but the one thing I'll say in his defence, his right foot comes round to win the ball but his left foot just plants down.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but it's still a nasty one.

The ref should still go and see it on the monitor.

They had a long look at it. We haven't seen much quality from either side, lots of pressing from Leeds United.

I'm fine with that not being a penalty, you'd be so unlucky if that went against you.

.

Tottenham always seem to do well against Leeds United - they have only lost one of their past 15 meetings in the Premier League, going back almost 25 years.

I am a little bit of a believer that some teams always do well, or badly, against certain opposition or on certain grounds.

I had the same as a player when I had bogey teams or stadiums, as well as lucky ones. For example, while I always used to score against Everton at Goodison Park, I always had a stinker at Highfield Road, Coventry's old home, despite getting plenty of goals against them in home games for Blackburn.

So, I am definitely not going for Leeds to win this - but do I back Tottenham to win again and continue their good run?

Roberto de Zerbi's side have rocketed up the table on the back of three wins in a row, although they were helped out a lot by Jean-Philippe Mateta's red card in their victory over Crystal Palace last time out.

Tottenham are flying at the moment, and their confidence is up - we are seeing a bit of a Spurs swagger for the first time in a long while. So, while I don't think they will make it four wins in a row, I don't see them being beaten, either.

It's likely to be a very tight game. Leeds were a bit unlucky to lose to Bournemouth last week, but their lack of goals is becoming an issue.
