The Wisconsin Badgers suffered an embarrassing loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, but they notched an important win on the recruiting trail afterwards. They have flipped three-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson from the Washington Huskies, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.
Tyson committed to Washington back on June 5, picking them over the Texas A&M Aggies. He is the second player that Wisconsin has flipped from a Big Ten rival this week, with them stealing Blake Betton from the Penn State Nittany Lions back on Sunday.
Tyson is ranked as the No. 414 overall player and No. 58 wide receiver in the Rivals industry ranking. The Peoria native is the No. 8 player from Arizona.
He is having an excellent senior season at Peoria High School, where he stars on offense and special teams. In 10 games, he has caught 45 passes for 687 yards and seven touchdowns, leading them in all three areas. He is averaging 53.2 yards on his six kickoff returns, three of which he has returned for touchdowns.
Tyson is Wisconsin's 24th commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He is their third wide receiver, joining DJ Davis and Steele Harris, who are also three-star prospects.
Rivals now ranks Wisconsin's recruiting class as the 25th best in the country and the 9th best in the Big Ten. The group has a chance to be Luke Fickell's best recruiting class since taking over the Badgers; they signed the No. 22 recruiting class in 2024.
