3 potential X-factors for the Jets offense vs. Chiefs in Week 9
New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (15) catches a touchdown pass in the second quarter as the New York Jets play Las Vegas Raiders in a week 8 NFL football game at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, in East Rutherford, NJ.

The 2-6 New York Jets have an incredibly difficult matchup versus quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. For the Jets to possess even the faintest hope of executing an upset, they'll need the offense to match Mahomes blow for blow.

Jets Wire has identified three potential X-factors for the offense on Sunday.

Adonai Mitchell, WR

Ascending receiver Adonai Mitchell recently returned from injury and broke out versus the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8. Mitchell led the offense in every major receiving category, producing seven catches for 142 yards and a touchdown. He averaged an explosive 20.3 yards per reception and served as Geno Smith's go-to target.

Mason Taylor, TE

Sophomore tight end Mason Taylor has seemingly surpassed rookie Kenyon Sadiq on the depth chart. That continued being the case versus the Raiders, when he had three receptions compared to Sadiq's one. Frank Reich's offense needs Taylor to be a reliable safety net for Smith and the passing attack.

Braelon Allen, RB

Whether Breece Hall returns from injury this weekend or not, Braelon Allen needs to stay heavily involved in the rushing attack. Allen rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders, despite the offense inexplicably abandoning the run during the second half. He has three 100-yard rushing games in his last four outings.
