Newcastle United have buy and loan back plan for January – 2 ways to sign fullback

Wisła Kraków’s Jakub Krzyżanowski has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old made his first team debut in 2023, after graduating from the Polish club’s academy. He’s played 67 matches so far and 12 are from this season.

Newcastle United have set their sights on him and have taken action for a potential move.

The Poland U20 international has so far played every minute in the league this season and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Gazeta Krakowska, a newspaper local to the Polish club, have a report about the Magpies’ interest in the youngster. Journalist Bartosz Karcz has covered this report.

A scout from the Premier League side was in attendance to watch the player live in action against Raków Częstochowa on October 24th.

Karcz adds Wisła Kraków would ‘gladly reach an agreement’ with Matthias Jaissle’s side in the winter market, for the fullback to continue at least until the end of the season.

The other option is for Newcastle United to sign him in January by paying a higher fee. He makes no mention of the price or Wisła Kraków’s demand.

Second source backs up Newcastle United’s trip

Meczyki.pl took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to back up Bartosz Karcz’s report and share more information. Their journalist, Tomasz Włodarczyk, covers these updates.

He states: “Newcastle United – as reported by Karcz – watched him from the stands in the match against Raków.”

“The matter hasn’t progressed much yet. Newcastle United aren’t the only one keeping an eye on him. After the match against Legia, calls from Europe began pouring in.”

The journalist argues it’s time for Poland manager Jan Urban to hand Jakub Krzyżanowski a senior debut. This is also a sign of the young fullback’s development so far.

Matthias Jaissle has Lewis Hall as the only recognised left-back in his squad. The Tyneside club had looked at Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas in the summer window. Club Brugge star Joaquin Seys is also reportedly on their agenda.

Krzyżanowski is the latest player added to Newcastle United’s left-back target list.
