According to a report by Football Transfer on Friday, October 30, 2026, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has dismissed suggestions that Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian could leave the club on loan in January, insisting that the teenager remains part of his plans.
The 19-year-old enjoyed an encouraging first season at Stamford Bridge, making 36 appearances across all competitions and scoring eight goals. However, his situation has changed considerably since Alonso took charge.
Estevao has played just 172 minutes out of a possible 990 across all competitions and is yet to earn a Premier League start during the 2026–27 campaign.
The Brazilian was also an unused substitute during Wednesday's Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool, further highlighting his limited involvement under the new manager.
Although Estevao has struggled to displace Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in the attacking positions, Pedro Neto has established himself as Alonso's preferred option on the right wing.
Several European clubs are reportedly monitoring the youngster ahead of the January transfer window, with his reduced playing time believed to have increased his frustration.
Paris Saint-Germain are said to be closely following his situation, while other interested clubs are prepared to explore a possible move if Chelsea become willing to consider offers.
However, Alonso has made it clear that a January loan departure is not being considered. Chelsea had also previously identified Estevao as one of the players they are unwilling to let go.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea's meeting with Manchester United, the Spanish manager reassured supporters that the teenager would receive more opportunities as the season progresses.
Alonso pointed out that the campaign was still in its early stages and that every player would have opportunities to make an impact. He also described Estevao's current situation as part of his adaptation process.
Despite the youngster's limited playing time, Alonso praised his professionalism, commitment in training and determination to succeed, stressing that his reduced role had nothing to do with his attitude.
The Chelsea manager also accepted responsibility for the selection decisions that have limited Estevao's involvement, acknowledging that players can become frustrated when they are not getting enough minutes.
With opportunities likely to arise throughout a demanding season, Alonso expects every member of his squad to remain prepared to contribute whenever called upon.
He also revealed that he maintains regular communication with the young Brazilian and keeps him involved in discussions about his development and future at the club.
Alonso remains confident that the talented attacker can establish himself as an important player for Chelsea before the end of the season, meaning the Blues have no immediate plans to allow him to leave.
