According to a report by Metro on Saturday, October 31, 2026, former England striker Alan Shearer has tipped Chelsea to beat Manchester United and predicted a draw between Liverpool and Arsenal in this weekend's Premier League fixtures.
Shearer believes Chelsea are better positioned to secure victory at Stamford Bridge despite their defensive problems and recent defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United, meanwhile, head into the match under pressure after going eight games without a win.
Manager Michael Carrick is desperate for a positive result to boost confidence and ease growing concerns about the team's performances.
Shearer said: "I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Man United can turn things around and for that reason I’m just going to say home win."
The former Newcastle United striker acknowledged that Chelsea's defensive weaknesses could create opportunities for United but insisted that Carrick's side had not shown enough to convince him they could claim victory.
Shearer also predicted a Bournemouth win over Leeds United, alongside home victories for Brentford against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City against Brighton.
Manchester City could receive a boost from the expected return of Erling Haaland, who missed the midweek fixture against Brighton.
However, Shearer warned that Brighton could still pose a threat to Pep Guardiola's side.
Tottenham Hotspur are also expected to maintain their positive run when they welcome Crystal Palace. Shearer believes Spurs can build on their recent victory over Chelsea, while Palace's performances have raised questions about their consistency.
The former England international also backed Aston Villa to defeat Fulham, praising Nicolas Jackson for his recent displays and growing confidence under Unai Emery.
Jackson scored twice in Villa's victory over Manchester City, and Shearer believes the forward could become an important player for the club if he continues his impressive scoring form.
Attention will also be on Anfield on Sunday when Liverpool host Arsenal in one of the weekend's biggest Premier League fixtures.
Despite Arsenal's midweek Carabao Cup exit, Shearer expects Mikel Arteta's side to approach the match with a different mentality. However, he believes Liverpool's current form makes the contest difficult to predict.
"I think I’m going to go for a score draw," Shearer said.
He added that a draw would be an acceptable result for both teams, considering their ambitions and the quality of their opponents.
