Otto Addo Reportedly Takes GFA to FIFA Over $750,000 Compensation Claim

Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has reportedly taken the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to FIFA over a compensation dispute following the termination of his contract in March 2026.

According to reports, the former Ghana coach is demanding more than $750,000 in compensation, claiming that he is entitled to payment for the remaining period of his contract after the GFA ended his appointment.

Otto Addo was reportedly earning a monthly salary of $50,000 under his contract with the GFA. At the time of his dismissal, he allegedly had 10 months remaining on his agreement, forming the basis of the compensation claim.

Reports further indicate that attempts to resolve the disagreement between the former coach and the football governing body through negotiations were unsuccessful, prompting him to seek FIFA's intervention.

The development could create another challenge for the GFA, particularly regarding the financial and administrative implications of terminating the contracts of national team coaches.

The reported dispute has also reignited discussions about the leadership of the Ghana Football Association under President Kurt Okraku, with critics questioning the association's management decisions and demanding greater accountability.

Some football followers have expressed concerns about the circumstances surrounding the termination of Otto Addo's contract and the possibility of Ghana facing a substantial financial obligation if his claim succeeds.

Questions are also being raised about whether the GFA followed all the necessary contractual procedures before ending the former coach's appointment.

However, the reported compensation demand does not automatically mean FIFA has ruled in Otto Addo's favour. The outcome will depend on the contractual provisions, evidence presented and FIFA's assessment of the dispute.

The GFA's official response and any eventual decision from FIFA will be important in determining how the matter unfolds.
