According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on November 1, 2026, Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has expressed his excitement over Vinicius Junior’s return, describing the Brazilian forward as an important member of his squad despite his recent suspension.
Mourinho made the remarks while discussing the winger’s absence following a disciplinary sanction that has ruled him out of domestic league matches. The Portuguese manager made it clear that he values the Brazilian highly and is eager to have him back in action.
“I can’t wait for Vini Jr to be back from the sanction because I love him, I need him,” Mourinho said.
The manager’s comments highlight Vinicius’ importance to Real Madrid’s attacking plans as the club continues to compete across domestic and European competitions.
The Brazilian international has endured a difficult period in Spain, facing criticism over his performances and increased scrutiny from supporters and football analysts. However, Mourinho has continued to stand by the forward, praising his character, commitment and determination to overcome challenging moments.
Vinicius’ latest disciplinary problems followed his dismissal during Real Madrid’s LaLiga encounter against Villarreal. He received a four-match domestic suspension after being sent off for pulling an opponent’s hair before protesting against the referee’s decision.
Mourinho has shown his support for the attacker throughout the season. Earlier in October, the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Roma manager defended Vinicius amid criticism of his form, arguing that dropping a struggling player does not always help restore confidence.
The Portuguese tactician also acknowledged that the Brazilian was working hard to rediscover the form that established him as one of the most dangerous attackers in world football.
During a press conference on October 17, Mourinho praised Vinicius’ mental strength, saying he admired the forward’s ability to keep smiling and performing despite the criticism he regularly faces.
Mourinho also suggested that he might have considered leaving Spain if he were in Vinicius’ position. However, he recognised that the forward’s strong attachment to Real Madrid and the city had influenced his decision to remain at the club.
Vinicius has played a decisive role in Real Madrid’s Champions League successes and established himself as one of the club’s most influential attacking players. His pace, dribbling, creativity and ability to trouble opposition defenders make him a valuable option for Mourinho.
His absence from LaLiga matches has therefore created another selection challenge for the manager, although the Brazilian remains an important part of Real Madrid’s plans.
Mourinho will now hope Vinicius returns with renewed confidence and determination as the club prepares for several important fixtures across multiple competitions.
