Ghana defender Marvin Senaya has finally made his competitive return for French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre after spending 121 days on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
The 25-year-old Black Stars defender, who picked up the injury while representing Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, was introduced off the bench during Auxerre's league clash against Strasbourg.
His return comes as a huge relief for both his club and the Ghana national team, as he missed several important matches during his recovery period.
Senaya, who joined Auxerre with high expectations, was sidelined shortly after the World Cup tournament, raising fears among fans that he could miss a larger part of the season.
However, after months of rehabilitation and intensive training with the club's medical team, the defender was declared fit and named in the matchday squad.
Speaking after the match, Auxerre fans expressed joy at seeing the Ghanaian back on the pitch, praising his energy and defensive solidity despite coming on as a substitute.
The defender's return is also expected to boost the Black Stars ahead of upcoming international fixtures, as coach Otto Addo will be counting on his experience and versatility in defence.
Senaya originally broke into the Ghana squad after his impressive performances in Europe and has since become an important figure for the national team.
Auxerre will hope the defender can now stay fully fit and help the club push for a better position in the Ligue 1 table this season in the coming weeks ahead now
