According to Fabrizio Romano on Friday, October 23, 2026, Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka could be sidelined for at least six weeks after suffering an injury, with further medical examinations required to determine the full extent of the problem.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed concern about the England international’s condition, admitting that the initial assessment was not encouraging as the club awaits further information about one of its most important attacking players.
Saka sustained the injury during Arsenal’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, October 21. His early departure from the game raised concerns among supporters, with fears growing that he could miss several important fixtures.
Speaking about the situation, Arteta confirmed that Saka was scheduled to undergo another MRI scan on Friday afternoon. The manager explained that fluid around the affected area had made it difficult for medical staff to establish the severity of the injury.
“It doesn’t look good. Bukayo has another MRI this afternoon because he had quite a lot of fluid in the area, so it was difficult to understand the extent of the injury, but we’ll know more probably tomorrow. Again, we need a few more scans and opinions from specialists,” Arteta said.
The manager’s comments have increased concerns that Saka could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, Arsenal are still waiting for the results of further examinations before confirming the exact nature of the injury or providing an official recovery timeline.
An absence of six weeks or longer would represent a major setback for Arteta’s side. Saka has become a key figure in Arsenal’s attack, using his pace, creativity, dribbling ability and goalscoring threat to make important contributions.
His potential absence would force Arsenal to consider alternative attacking options during a demanding period of domestic and European competition. Arteta may also need to adjust his starting lineup and tactical approach to compensate for the loss of the influential winger.
Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke could be among the players considered to take on greater attacking responsibilities while Saka recovers.
Arsenal supporters will be hoping that the additional scans provide encouraging news and that the injury is less serious than initially feared.
For now, a six week absence remains a possibility rather than a confirmed recovery period. The club is expected to provide a clearer update once the latest medical assessments have been completed.
