Real Madrid Learn How Much They Will Have to Pay to Sign World Cup Winner

Real Madrid have reportedly been informed of the financial demands involved in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro as they assess possible reinforcements at right-back ahead of the next transfer window. The Spanish club are still seeking a reliable specialist in the position, despite making several additions to their squad during the summer.

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Tottenham have set Porro’s valuation at between €70 million and €80 million. The figure, reported by Diario SPORT, could make negotiations difficult for Madrid, particularly if the club is unwilling to commit such a substantial amount to another defensive signing.

Porro has emerged as a candidate as manager Jose Mourinho continues to assess his options on the right side of defence. Neither Denzel Dumfries nor Trent Alexander-Arnold has consistently secured the position, prompting captain Federico Valverde to fill the role on several occasions.

Valverde has adapted well despite being a midfielder by trade, offering energy and balance when deployed at right-back. However, Madrid would prefer to use him in his natural midfield position and bring in a specialist defender to provide a longer-term solution.

Tottenham are in a strong negotiating position because Porro recently signed a contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2031. That commitment reduces the pressure on the Premier League side to sell and gives them little incentive to accept an offer below their valuation.

The 27-year-old has established himself as an influential attacking full-back since joining Spurs from Sporting CP. His crossing, forward runs and work rate have made him an important part of Tottenham’s setup. He has also previously indicated an interest in returning to Spanish football at some point in his career, while Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly monitored his situation.

However, Madrid’s pursuit would depend partly on how they resolve the futures of their existing right-back options. Dumfries only arrived from Inter Milan during the summer, meaning the club may prefer to give him more time before making a decision about his long-term role.

Alexander-Arnold’s position could be more uncertain following a difficult period in Spain, with a possible departure next summer remaining an option. His future may influence whether Madrid decide to pursue another defender.

For now, Porro’s €70 million to €80 million valuation presents a significant obstacle. Madrid must assess their current squad before deciding whether to make a formal move for the Tottenham defender.
