Chelsea Reportedly Enter Race to Sign One of Europe’s Most In-Form Strikers

According to a report by Football Transfer on Monday, October 26, 2026, Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi after sending scouts to watch the 22-year-old score a hat-trick in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Sint-Truidense VV.

The young forward has attracted interest from several leading European clubs following his impressive performances this season, with growing expectations that he could secure a major transfer move next summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Manchester City both sent representatives to watch the German-Italian eligible striker in action. Their scouting missions highlight the increasing competition for his signature ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window.

AC Milan and Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing Tresoldi. However, Chelsea and Manchester City have now strengthened their pursuit, joining an increasingly competitive group of clubs monitoring the highly rated attacker.

Chelsea continue to assess their attacking options despite signing Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha during the summer to replace Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap. Their interest in Tresoldi suggests the club are still considering further additions to their forward line.

During Saturday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur, Morgan Rogers was deployed as a centre-forward because Joao Pedro was unavailable. The situation highlighted the importance of maintaining adequate attacking depth as Chelsea prepare for their recruitment plans in 2027.

Tresoldi has strengthened his reputation with an impressive goalscoring record this season. He has scored 12 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions, including his recent hat-trick against Sint-Truidense VV.

The striker also scored three times against Inter Milan in the Champions League earlier this month. With four goals in the competition, he is currently among the tournament’s leading scorers this season.

Manchester City reportedly view Tresoldi as a potential successor to Erling Haaland, whose future has attracted speculation amid the club’s pending case involving 115 alleged financial breaches. However, Club Brugge are currently unwilling to approve the striker’s departure.

Chelsea’s transfer priorities could complicate their pursuit of the forward. The club are expected to focus on strengthening their midfield next year, with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott reportedly among their leading targets and potentially capable of consuming a significant portion of their transfer budget.

Chelsea must therefore decide whether to invest heavily in another striker or continue relying on Welbeck and Emegha as alternative options to support Pedro. If Pedro continues to experience fitness problems, pursuing Tresoldi could become a more urgent priority for the club.
