Koforidua City FC Bus Involved in Accident, Several Players Injured

At least 11 people have reportedly sustained injuries following an accident involving a bus carrying players and officials of Koforidua City FC, a Division Two football club in Ghana.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Saforo in the Eastern Region, while the team was travelling to honour a league fixture against Shacor Supper Stars FC.

Reports indicate that the vehicle was carrying 20 players, three club officials, the driver and his mate when the accident occurred. The incident has raised concern among football supporters and members of the sporting community, particularly those associated with the affected club.

Following the accident, seven players were reportedly taken to Mampong Hospital for medical attention. Other injured persons were also transported to the health facility to receive treatment.

Although details surrounding the circumstances of the accident remain limited, the development has generated concern about the safety and welfare of players and officials travelling for domestic football competitions.

Koforidua City FC is among the clubs competing in Ghana's Division Two League, where teams regularly travel to different communities to participate in scheduled league matches. The incident has therefore brought renewed attention to the importance of safe transportation arrangements for football clubs, especially those operating at the lower levels of the country's football structure.

Sporty FM, which reported the development, has expressed sympathy towards Koforidua City FC and everyone affected by the accident. The station also extended its thoughts to the club and those involved as the football community awaits further information.

It remains unclear whether the scheduled match against Shacor Supper Stars FC will be played at a later date. Further updates are also expected regarding the condition of the injured players and officials.

The incident has cast a shadow over the club's football activities, with supporters hoping for positive news about those receiving medical attention.
