Barcelona set clear conditions for Pedro Porro transfer as Tottenham’s demand emerge

Barcelona have outlined the financial and personal conditions they would want fulfilled before pursuing a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, with the English club’s €70 million valuation presenting a significant challenge. The Catalan side are keen to strengthen their right-back position but are unwilling to commit such a substantial fee to secure the Spanish international.

According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Porro remains one of Barcelona’s preferred options as the club assesses potential defensive reinforcements. Manager Hansi Flick and the sporting department are both understood to approve of his qualities and believe his profile would suit the team’s requirements.

However, their positive assessment of the 27-year-old has not changed the club’s financial position. Barcelona consider Tottenham’s asking price too high and would only seriously pursue the transfer if the London club became willing to negotiate a considerably lower fee.

The report indicates that Barcelona have already made contact with Porro’s representatives to discuss the possibility of a return to Spanish football. Those close to the defender reportedly believe his spell in England could be nearing its conclusion, while the player himself is said to view a move to Camp Nou favourably.

His openness to joining Barcelona could provide an important starting point for discussions. Nevertheless, the Catalan club want Porro to do more than simply express interest in the transfer. They expect him to communicate his desire to leave Tottenham and help create circumstances that could encourage the Premier League side to reconsider its valuation.

Barcelona’s interest in the defender is not new. Porro featured in their plans during the previous summer transfer window, when the club examined several possibilities for improving its options at right-back.

At that stage, however, any attempt to sign him depended heavily on Barcelona raising funds through a major defensive sale. Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde were among the players whose departures were considered as possible ways of financing the operation. Neither defender eventually left, leaving Barcelona without the financial flexibility required to advance negotiations for Porro.

The club consequently suspended its pursuit, although the Spanish international has remained on its list of potential targets.

Real Madrid have also been associated with the Tottenham defender, but their reported interest has lost momentum. Competition for positions in their right-back department is understood to have reduced the urgency of considering another signing in that area.

Tottenham’s approach to transfer negotiations could create further complications. The club has developed a reputation for placing substantial valuations on important players, making it difficult for interested teams to secure favourable agreements. Barcelona are therefore aware that convincing the London side to accept a reduced fee may require considerable effort.

The Catalan club must also balance its interest in Porro against other recruitment priorities. Strengthening additional areas of the squad remains part of their transfer planning, meaning they are reluctant to devote such a large portion of their available budget to another defender.

For now, Porro’s potential return to Spain remains dependent on Tottenham’s willingness to lower its demands and the player’s ability to influence the situation.
