According to a report by Barca Universal on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Barcelona have received a major injury boost after Andreas Christensen took part in some first-team group training on Sunday, marking an important step in his recovery from a muscular injury sustained in September.
The Danish centre-back has been sidelined since picking up a left thigh injury during Barcelona's victory over Sevilla before the international break. His absence forced him to miss several important matches, including clashes against Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Christensen's return to training provides Hansi Flick with another option in central defence following the club's injury problems, which have forced the manager to make tactical adjustments. Frenkie de Jong has been used at centre-back, while Brian Farinas has filled in at right-back.
Before sustaining his injury, Christensen had made six appearances for Barcelona this season, starting four matches and playing a total of 402 minutes. His return would give Flick more defensive options as the team prepares for a challenging run of fixtures.
Barcelona are scheduled to face Aston Villa in the Champions League on Tuesday before travelling to take on Atletico Madrid next weekend. However, Christensen's partial return to group training does not necessarily mean he is ready to feature in competitive matches.
Flick is expected to take a cautious approach to the defender's recovery, especially considering his previous injury problems. Instead of rushing him back into action, Barcelona could postpone his return until after the November international break.
Christensen's calmness on the ball, positional intelligence and ability to initiate attacks from defence make him an important partner for Pau Cubarsi.
Barcelona will continue monitoring his recovery before determining when he can resume full team training and become available for selection.
