According to a report by Manchester Evening News on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Manchester United are preparing for their upcoming Champions League match against Como, with several first team players missing from training ahead of the European fixture.
United manager Michael Carrick will be hoping his team can build on their recent victory over Sabah and improve their performance after suffering a defeat against Atlético Madrid. However, the squad has been affected by several injury concerns and a suspension that could limit the manager’s options for the match.
Marcus Rashford is reportedly unavailable because of a hip problem, while Lisandro Martínez has been left out after picking up a knock. Ayden Heaven is also missing because of illness, with Kobbie Mainoo dealing with a minor injury. Luke Shaw was another notable absentee from the training session.
Defender Leny Yoro will not feature against Como after receiving a red card during United’s defeat to Atlético Madrid. Benjamin Šeško remains unavailable because of a shin problem, while Patrick Dorgu is continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Despite these absences, United still have several important players available as they prepare for the European encounter. The goalkeepers involved in training include Senne Lammens, Karl Darlow, Tom Heaton and Mee.
The defensive group features Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Amass, Dan Armer, Diogo Dalot, Jayden Kamason and Noussair Mazraoui. In midfield, Mason Mount, Tyler Fletcher, Jack Fletcher, Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Bruno Fernandes are among those included.
The attacking options include Shea Lacey, Joshua Zirkzee, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo, giving Carrick several choices as he considers his starting lineup.
Como will present a difficult challenge under manager Cesc Fàbregas. The Italian side recently recorded an impressive 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig before suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat against Feyenoord.
United will therefore need a disciplined performance to secure a positive result, especially with several key players unavailable for the match.
