According to a report by BBC Sport on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the UEFA Champions League standings have attracted attention following Wednesday’s matches, which saw Arsenal draw 2-2 with Bayern Munich, Manchester United lose 4-1 to Como, and Real Madrid defeat RB Leipzig 4-1.
Arsenal travelled to Germany for a difficult encounter against Bayern Munich. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, giving Mikel Arteta’s side one point and taking their total to seven points from three matches. Arsenal will now look to build on their positive start as they continue their European campaign.
Manchester United, however, suffered a disappointing defeat against Como in Italy. Nico Paz scored twice and provided an assist to help the Italian side secure an impressive 4-1 victory. Joshua Zirkzee scored United’s only goal late in the match, assisted by Amad Diallo. The result left United with three points from their opening three matches, increasing the pressure on the team to improve.
Real Madrid enjoyed a successful evening, recording a convincing 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig. The Spanish giants demonstrated their attacking strength, with Arda Güler among the standout performers as they strengthened their position in the competition.
Meanwhile, other European clubs continued their campaigns as the battle for qualification intensified. Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool are also among the teams hoping to secure favourable positions ahead of the knockout stages.
Under the Champions League’s current format, 36 teams compete in a single league table, with each club playing eight matches against different opponents.
The eight highest ranked teams qualify automatically for the Round of 16, while clubs finishing between ninth and 24th place enter the knockout phase play offs. Teams finishing 25th or lower are eliminated.
With several fixtures remaining, the standings could still change significantly. Arsenal will aim to maintain their strong start, Manchester United must recover from their heavy defeat, and Real Madrid will look to continue their winning form as the competition progresses.
