FC Samartex 1996 General Manager Edmund Ackah has vowed to resign from his position if the club engages in any illegal activities, including match-fixing.
The experienced football administrator made the declaration during an interview with Asempa FM Ultimate Sports Show, expressing confidence in the club’s leadership and the way its affairs are being managed.
However, Ackah insisted he would not remain in his role if Samartex were found to be involved in any form of wrongdoing.
“I will resign from FC Samartex if the club engages in anything illegal or match-fixing,” he said.
Ackah has played a key role in the club’s development since his appointment as general manager, helping Samartex win their maiden Ghana Premier League title in the 2023/24 season.
Meanwhile, the Samartex official has expressed disappointment over the reported decision not to broadcast the club’s home matches on television.
He said the club had been told that the location of its home ground and the distance involved were reasons for the games not being televised.
“I have heard that our games are not on television because of where we are located and the distance, but that is not fair,” Ackah said.
He also questioned concerns about the venue’s suitability for live broadcasts, pointing to the security measures in place at the stadium.
“Our stadium is safe because there are CCTV cameras everywhere, so I don’t know why there will be that decision not to air our games,” he added.
After dropping points on the road against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, FC Samartex will hope to return to winning ways when they host Bibiani Gold Stars in the Matchday 9 games this weekend at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
