Tottenham Hotspur and Man United are prioritising their striker searches in 2027 and have several of the same names on their shortlists.

Spurs are undoubtedly on the up under Roberto De Zerbi, with things starting to click for the Lilywhites after a rough start to the season.

While only two points separate Tottenham and Man Utd in the table, the two clubs appear to be on opposite trajectories, with Spurs getting better with each performance while the Red Devils appear to be getting worse under Michael Carrick.

However, both clubs have their eye on many of the same players and may be set for a major transfer tussle in January.

Nicolo Tresoldi is one of three strikers wanted by both Tottenham and Man United

TEAMtalk have now claimed that, like Spurs, United are prioritising adding a centre-forward to their squad in the winter, with Benjamin Sesko facing a prolonged period on the sidelines.

Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi is one of four names on the Manchester club’s shortlist, and the German U21 international is also appreciated by Spurs.

The two clubs could be about to go head-to-head for the 21-year-old who has scored 12 goals in 14 outings this term. The Brugge man, who is also on the radar of Chelsea and Manchester City, is allegedly valued at around £42m by the Belgian club.

Additionally, Man United are currently set to be holding internal talks over whether to move for £50m-rated Igor Matanovic, who has also been heavily linked with a move to Spurs.

Finally, it is revealed that Carrick’s and De Zerbi’s sides are also fans of Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo, who is appreciated by Everton as well.

Could Man United put up a bigger fight against Spurs after Mateus Fernandes mistake?

Spurs beat United to the signing of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, with the Lilywhites paying £85m to sign the 22-year-old after the Red Devils deemed West Ham’s asking price too high.

United went for cheaper midfield options in Youri Tielemans and Andre Santos, and that strategy has backfired spectacularly, with both players struggling to make an impact at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils hierarchy may thus be keen to avoid the same mistake in January and may be willing to put up a much better fight against Tottenham in the race for the previously mentioned strikers.
